Being overachievers and ambitious overthinkers, many of us struggle to sit still. To just be. To enjoy silence.
We don’t always know what to do with stillness. We might feel lonely. We might feel bored. Or we might feel like we’re being ineffective, like we’re wasting time, being unproductive.
Why do we act like rest doesn’t matter?
Why don’t we understand that rest is just as important as productivity?
But what are we really trying to prove?
Actually, I’d go as far as to say—rest is productive.
Because when we rest, we’re taking care of our minds. Our bodies. Our health.
I always like to say that sleep is important.
There’s this old phrase, “burning the midnight oil.” I don’t believe in that.
Sure, occasionally, if there’s something urgent and you want to get it done, that’s okay. But burning the midnight oil as a lifestyle, overworking just for the sake of the hustle, shouldn’t be our goal.
We need to learn to value rest.
Because if there’s no you, there can be no accomplishment to enjoy.
No success worth celebrating.
Instead of only praising how hard we work, it’s time we start glorifying rest.
Let’s start glorifying how well we take care of ourselves.
Sincerely,
